Mathematics.

Mathematics is a 60-min instructor led workshop started specifically for home school students to help students from all over Aotearoa access quality Math classes. Our teaching structure goes beyond just math - our main goal is to create an environment that inspires students to learn and communicate with not just their instructor but with their peers. Math is always the same, it's the environment that it's taught in that makes the difference.

For students who are unavailable during our regular workshop times or for those in areas where we don't currently offer group sessions, we offer Mathematics Offline. This option gives students the flexibility to work through their assigned content throughout the week at their own pace. Additionally, our tutors are available throughout the week to assist with any tough questions through our private online forum, ensuring students receive the support they need to succeed. Mathematics Offline is $100/term or $12.99/week.

Our instructors are experienced with teaching NCEA/Cambridge/IB all the way through to University level Mathematics. So please reach out if you require a specific level or are looking for 1:1 tutoring.

Workshop Details

Math Curriculum

Students in our workshops will follow the comprehensive IXL curriculum, designed to foster skill mastery and confidence. Each week, they will participate in a dynamic 1-hour workshop led by our experienced instructors. These sessions focus on collaborative learning, that encourages meaningful peer-to-peer interaction while ensuring ample individual support. To reinforce concepts covered during the workshop, students will also receive targeted homework assignments each week tailored to their own learning needs.

Software Requirements

Your child will be given an IXL account to use throughout the term. This can be accessed through a web browser like Google Chrome/Mozilla Firefox/Explorer/Safari.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our program uses the IXL platform, which aligns with the New Zealand Curriculum (NZC) and covers key areas such as Number, Algebra, Geometry, Measurement, and Statistics.

We begin with a diagnostic assessment on IXL to identify each student's strengths and areas for improvement. This allows us to create a tailored learning path and assign targeted homework to address pinch points.

While our workshops aren't specifically designed for neurodiverse learners, we're committed to creating a safe and welcoming space for students of all backgrounds. Please feel free to let us know if your child is neurodiverse so we can better support their learning experience.

Yes, homework is assigned weekly based on each student's needs. It includes targeted exercises on IXL to reinforce concepts and address areas requiring extra practice.

If your child misses a session, all materials and homework assignments will be provided so they can catch up. Tutors can also offer a brief recap during the next session if needed.

Students are placed in a level based on their year group and diagnostic assessment results. This ensures they are challenged appropriately while strengthening foundational skills.

Our instructors have strong backgrounds in mathematics and highly experienced in tutoring. All our instructors come from a STEM background with industry experience. All of our instructors are police-checked.

Yes, we provide regular feedback and progress updates, including insights from the IXL platform and any areas where additional focus is needed.

All activities are conducted using the IXL platform and Microsoft Teams, which is accessible from any internet-connected device. We do recommend students have a notepad/whiteboard/tablet in which they can work problems out on.
